SLP 5233 Acquired Language Disorders and Cognitive Rehab

The effects of damage to a normal language and cognitive system due to brain injury are discussed.  Emphasis on evaluation, diagnosis, intervention, and prognosis associated with a variety of neurologic disorders.  Students will demonstrate ability to apply research to treatment of aphasia, right hemisphere syndrome, traumatic brain injury, and dementia.  Students will also focus on role of speech language pathologist on the clinical team.
