NRS 5322 Advanced Pharmacology
This course explores pharmacological and pharmacotherapeutic principles for the treatment of common acute and chronic health conditions across the lifespan. Emphasis is placed on major categories of pharmacological agents, including indications, contraindications, side effects, and drug interactions. Students apply pharmacological concepts in clinical settings to support safe, effective prescribing and monitoring by the advanced practice nurse. Clinical decision making is emphasized within the context of patient outcomes, safety, quality, and cost. Legal and regulatory issues governing prescriptive authority for advanced practice nurses are addressed. PREREQUISITE: NRS 5101
