Esports Minor

The Esports Minor is an interdisciplinary program designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the rapidly growing esports industry. This minor uses curriculum in Esports, IT, broadcasting, business concepts, digital media creation, and event planning and promotion to provide students with a diverse set of skills that are commutable into many different career paths. This minor allows the student to deep dive in one of three concentration areas including Esports Production, Esports Management, and Esports Operations. It is ideal for students who are passionate about gaming, livestreaming, or looking for the transferable skills and interdisciplinary nature of the program.

Outcomes

Apply information to develop and execute strategic plans for managing esports teams, events, and livestreaming production.

Evaluate industry trends, business models, and revenue streams in the esports ecosystem, including sponsorships, branding, and media rights.

Design and implement live-streaming broadcasts, leveraging industry-standard tools and technologies for high-quality production.

Calculate the effectiveness of esports productions through audience engagement metrics and feedback.

Organize and manage the logistics of small to large-scale esports events, ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Identify the historical development and cultural significance of esports as an entertainment and business phenomenon.

Discuss the impact of emerging technologies on the evolution of esports production and management.
