SLP 5133 Developmental Language Disorders

This course will provide a theoretical and practical orientation to the area of child language disorders with an overview of potential etiologies and characteristics of language disorders in children from infancy through adolescence.  An emphasis is given to evaluation, diagnosis, and intervention of children with specific language impairments, autism spectrum disorders, and cognitively based language impairments as well as the relationship between language, learning, and literacy.  A variety of assessment and treatment procedures for use with a diverse clinical population will be discussed.
