The mission of the General Studies program at Trine University is to deliver a flexible and personalized education that equips students with interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills for success in diverse professional settings. By emphasizing individualized academic planning and a career-centered final project, the program cultivates intellectual growth, adaptability, and a commitment to lifelong learning. Graduates are prepared to excel in their careers and make meaningful contributions to their organizations and communities.

Outcomes

Our program assures that students attain the following outcomes:

  1. Students will demonstrate proficiency in at least two separate academic areas.
  2. Students will synthesize their two or three focus areas of study into a final project that demonstrates career readiness.
  3. Students will articulate a plan for post-graduate success.

Focus Areas -- 56 hours

Students can choose two or three focus areas. A focus area consists of at least eighteen credit hours of coursework taken from a single field (i.e. courses with the same catalog prefix). Each focus area must include a minimum of six hours of coursework at the 300 level or above. Students must take a minimum of 21 credit hours at the 300 level or above.
