SLP 5143 Clinical Methods
Students are introduced to basic clinical methods, and provided with knowledge and fundamental skills required for beginning a supervised clinical practicum. Ethical practice guidelines from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), HIPAA, client confidentiality, scope of practice, clinical procedures, clinical documentation, data collection, evidence-based practice, ways of adapting procedures for assessment, intervention and collaboration with individuals that are culturally and linguistically diverse, as well as, professional behavior are discussed. Students will practice administration, scoring, and interpretation of a variety of standardized assessments. Students will prepare and practice intervention during this course on a variety of disorder types through simulations.
