ARC 293 Architecture Appreciation

An introduction to the built environment, this course examines buildings and infrastructure from prehistory to present day. Through lectures and assignments students will be introduced to architectural terminology and historical, cultural, and innovatively significant buildings. Structures will be examined based on design, materials, geographic location, physical environment, social and cultural contexts, and past and present use. The role of the architect, engineer, client and user will be examined.
