THE 233 Introduction to Directing

Focuses on how a director creates a theatrical production, from preproduction analysis and planning to working with actors, designers, and audiences during production. This course explores the competition between character development and visual composition in terms of directorial focus. In addition, the course examines the conflict between textual fidelity and more improvisational elements.
