PAS 5022 Physician Assistant Professional Practice

This course provides an in-depth exploration of Professional Practice as it pertains to the role of the Physician Assistant. Students will examine core principles of professionalism including ethical practice, cultural humility, legal responsibilities, patient safety, professional behavior, accountability, interprofessional collaboration, and lifelong learning. Additional emphasis is placed on understanding scope of practice, appropriate provider-patient boundaries, equity in healthcare, and the PA’s role in advocacy and leadership. This course prepares students to demonstrate sound judgment, integrity, and respect in all aspects of clinical practice and to meet the expectations of both national certification standards and professionalism within the medical community. Prerequisite requires matriculation into the PA Program.
