ENG 363 The English Language

A study of the development of English from its origins to present day, including its place on the Indo-European language tree. The course will cover the development and change in English grammar, alphabet, spelling, syntax, and vocabulary as well as etymology and contemporary English dialects. Prerequisite: ENG 143 or ENG 133
