Fall 2024 Trine Course Catalog

ECE 261 Digital Systems Laboratory

The lab provides a comprehensive hands-on opportunity to implement digital design concepts. Logic gates, logic tools, Hardware Description Language (HDL), and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) design boards are used extensively to provide different variations of digital design. Students will: simplify and design combinational logic circuits including adders, comparators, multiplexers, decoders, and tri-state buffers, and predict their performances; design memory elements and sequential circuits such as latches, flipflops, counters, and frequency dividers; design state machines; use AND/OR/NOT/NAND/NOR logic gates and HDL to design combinational and sequential circuits and implement the design in an FPGA board.
