MAE 4143 Physical Metallurgy
Course explores the underlying structure-property relationships of metals. Topics include: thermodynamics and kinetics of phase transformations, diffusion, dislocation behavior, strengthening mechanisms, fracture mechanisms, crystallography, creep, and fatigue behavior. Laboratory work in fractography, scanning electron microscopy, fracture, tensile properties, and metallography. Prerequisite:
