Introduction to properties of substances and ideal gases by use of tables. Introduction to thermodynamic concepts of systems, control volumes, heat, work and internal energy. Formulation of the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics with engineering applications, Vapor Water Systems Ranking cycle, First and Second Law analysis of power plant cycles. Prerequisites:
PH 224 and
ES 213, and Grade of "C" or better in
MA 164
