Fall 2020 Trine Course Catalog

ECE 261 Digital Systems Laboratory

The lab provides a comprehensive hands-on opportunity to implement digital design concepts. Logic gates, logic tools, Hardware Description Language (HDL) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) design boards are used extensively to provide different variations of digital design. Students will: Work in a team environment to solve technical problems; understand switch-bounce problems and design a de-bounced switch; design adders, comparators, multiplexers, tri-state buffers and decoders using AND/OR/NOT/NAND/NOR logic gates; design memory cells, BCD-7-segment decoders, flip-flops and counters using logic gates and HDL; implement the design in an FPGA board.
