OTD 6553 OT Theory & Older Adults
An overview of the evaluation process in occupational therapy practice with older adults. Includes the theoretical basis of evaluation, selection of appropriate data-gathering methods, use of standardized and non-standardized assessment tools, interpretation of results, and documentation of evaluation findings. The course will specifically include instruction on methods for gathering information to construct an occupational profile which should include consideration of the roles that sociocultural, socioeconomic, and social determinants of health play in the client’s overall health and ability to engage in the occupations of ADL’s, IADL’s, Health Management, Rest and Sleep, Education, Work, Play, Leisure, and Social Participation.
